Thank Yous

The holiday hustle and bustle at our house is on-going throughout the first of the year, but I'm feeling a sudden need for a return to normalcy. I'm ready to take down the decorations, clean the house, and mail out the Thank Yous. Christmas isn't over until it's all cleaned up, put away, and everyone has been properly thanked.

This time of year has been filled with many, many Thank Yous for the last several years. Last year, my hand about fell off after writing numerous Thank Yous after Bo's birth, followed quickly by Christmas cards, and Christmas Thank Yous. This year, it was Bo's Birthday Thank Yous, followed by Christmas cards, and now Christmas Thank Yous (which reminds me, Mike, have you sent your birthday Thank Yous yet??).

For Bo's birthday, I turned this design into cards and hand wrote notes from Bo in each of them.

For my Christmas Thank Yous, I think I'm going to let Shutterfly do all of the work for me. I'm adding pictures and typing in my personalized Thank You note and letting Shutterfly mail the cards for me (it doesn't cost any more than a stamp!!). Probably not easier than the traditional Thank Yous but definitely more of a keepsake with pictures from Christmas Day. Plus, I can type instead of write, and I type much faster than I could ever dream of writing!

Also, I want to share with you the calendar I made for several family members for Christmas (I couldn't post about it before because several family members read the blog). I was really impressed with the quality of the calendars. If you're looking for a new calendar as we enter the New Year, I highly suggest you make one of your own featuring your favorite people. :)

I know I plug Shutterfly all the time... So I'm sorry for another shameless plug, but I really do love their products! Right now, you can also receive 75 4x6 prints for only $9.99 with the promo code GOPRINT.
If you click below, a portion of your purchase from Shutterfly will go to support Bo's college fund!

If You Give a Pig a Porkchop

After much nagging, Mike has finally written his debut post here at Sticky Feet (Part Deux). Give him some comment love and let him know that you'd love to hear from someone other than his crazy wife sometimes. :)

You have probably come in contact with this book series if you have even the slightest contact with a child age 1-4. They are incredibly cute, easy to read, and Bo just loves them. He recently received the book If You Give a Cat a Cupcake, by Laura Numeroff, for his birthday. It has become one of the four books he will actively seek out and bring to Mom or Dad to read to him.

My admiration for the book and author out of the way, my brain must operate in a completely different spectrum of reality from Laura Numeroff. The author leaps across creative chasms where I am unable to follow. For instance,

“Seeing the sand on the floor will remind him of the sprinkles. He’ll
probably ask you for some.”

When I was seven years old, my grandparents rented a house on the beach in Florida for the winter. We visited, played on the beach, and got covered in sand. When we went back to the house to clean up, we got sand everywhere. Seeing the sand reminded me of sprinkles, too. I asked my grandma for some. Not.

“Cleaning up will make him (the cat) hot, so you’ll give him a bathing suit and
take him to the beach.”

Obviously. We have four cats, I should try this sometime.

“He’ll want to go in the water.”

The author has NEVER had a cat.

“He’ll put them in his pail and try to pick it up.”

And then he’ll realize he doesn’t have thumbs.

But maybe these are just examples of how my brain works. I’ll give Laura Numeroff credit for being far more creative than me. Brain musings aside, I really do like this book. We also have If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and If You Give a Moose a Muffin. I really recommend picking one up if you have the desire and means. And the thread title isn’t a real book, I just thought it would be funny to parody an actual title. Tell me that twisted little part of you wouldn’t laugh while reading that book!

Baby Potential Review and Giveaway!

Baby Potential is the maker of adorable onsies and tees for little ones. Bo was pleased as punch to review his "Philanthropist" tee... At least he was until I started to explain to him what a philanthropist is. Look at those crocodile tears.

Apparently, Bo felt the extreme pressure that being a philanthropist holds. He is suppose to help the world?? That sounds like a very daunting task!
Eventually, I convinced Bo that he is already helping humanity, just by modeling this tee! (Okay, probably not, but it did get the tears to stop!)

And yes, the shirt is pretty big on Bo. He is modeling a 2T and we are saving it for summer. But he wanted to be sure to model it for all of you for this post.

Baby Potential has graciously offered to giveaway a size 3-6 month Teacher onsie to one lucky Sticky Feet reader. I know many of you reading are teachers and this would make a great gift for a colleague who is expecting!!
All you need to do is go visit Baby Potential and let me know what you would love to see on a tee for your little one!

Giveaway and Book Review: Two Weeks Under by Rivka Tadjer - Updated**

Are you looking for the perfect book to accompany you on your sojourn home for the holidays? Two Weeks Under by Rivka Tadjer is the perfect book for the job.

Two Weeks Under is part part mystery, part drama, and part thriller. The main premise of the book involves the strange link between female suicides and the new technology behind the Metamorphosis coma that makes women thinner by putting them in a coma like state for a two week period.

This is one book that I actually feel might be better as a movie with the high paced action and fascinating plot twists. The perspective and way that the author views the mind is truly amazing. It's a fast read that will keep your mind whirling long after the last page!

**Updated**

I just received an email from Rivka Tadjer! I feel so special. The giveaway winner will also be contacted by her and she said she is willing to answer questions about the book! Very neat! Check out her site at: rivkatadjer.com.

Shoes as a Stocking Stuffer? Plus, a Giveaway!!

Bo is moments way from taking off for the North Pole on foot...

I was clueless about what type of shoes to purchase for Bo, but luckily, my blogger buds always make it easy for me to figure out what we need. After reading Carrie's description of Keifer's See Kai Run shoes I immediately bought a pair. They are absolutely adorable and so cute!!

Bo has three pairs of See Kai Run shoes

The Sam - which is no longer available and no longer fit Bo's big feet. These were his first big boy shoes, shown here on his chubby little feet in August in a size 5. (Yes, I know it looks like his foot is broken, it's not. But this is the only picture I have of Bo wearing these.)

Bo also has the Avery, size 6, for styling around this winter.

And the Jackson, size 7, for this Spring!

I am having a very difficult time trying to find things to put in Bo's stocking. One idea was socks. And then I thought, well, I've already bought the Jackson's for Bo, and they would fit in his stocking, so I think I'm going to stick shoes in Bo's stocking as well. These are great shoes, very high quality, not to mention adorable! I highly recommend that you purchase a pair for your little one's stocking as well!
You can also win a pair of shoes!! See Kai Run has graciously offered to giveaway a free pair of See Kai Run shoes to one lucky Sticky Feet reader. To win, stop by See Kai Run and leave a comment stating which pair you would like to put in your child's stocking this Christmas.
For additional entries:

1) Email 5 of your friends and tell them to enter the giveaway. Be sure to send a carbon copy of the email to me at stickyfeet2 at gmail dot com. Then comment stating you did so.

Christmas Cards!!

Tis the season to order Christmas cards! I ordered my cards last night (I'd post a copy -- but it's a secret until everyone in real life receives a hard copy) and used every offer code I could find to get a great deal. I ordered 150 - 4x8 cards and was very impressed with the final price.

If you haven't ordered your cards yet, I highly suggest you check out Shutterfly. For every 50 cards you order you will receive 25 free. This is automatic -- just put the cards in your cart and you'll automatically receive 25 free out of every 75 in your cart!! Very nice!

The best thing about Shutterfly is they allow you to enter unlimited promo codes. Here are a few that will help you both on this order and in the future.

SHIP25 - Free shipping on orders of $25 or more.
HOLIDAY08 - If your order is over $70 you'll receive $10 off.
AF72-SAVE - Free 8x10 Collage Poster on a future order
SECRET3 - $10 off a future order when you spend $50 (exp. 12/3)

Even better, if you click over to Shutterfly through the banner below or from the link on my sidebar to order your cards, Shutterfly will make a contribution to Bo's College Fund (okay, it's a commission, but I'll put it in Bo's college fund!)!
