Free ECards!

My birthday is rapidly approaching (July 4) and I'll soon be turning 28. It doesn't seem possible. Earlier in the week, I blogged about purging my card collection for our big move. Twenty-eight isn't a big birthday for me - so instead of more paper cards that will eventually end up in a landfill, I'd like to encourage my friends and family to send me a Free Ecard instead.

I love the option of the free photo cards. We sent Christmas cards every year with a photo of our family and they end up costing a fortune. Sending photo cards via email would not only save a lot of money by eliminating the cost of the cards and the stamp but it would also save a lot of time stuffing envelopes and writing out addresses. With twins on the way, I need to think of ways that I can still spread good tidings without spending hours on cards! It also eliminates the issue that occurs when the card arrives at it's destination. While the recipient surely loves to see your family picture, they probably don't have any idea what to do with it once they've looked at it! I always feel bad throwing away the family pictures that come with Christmas cards -- but I only have so much room in my house to store these cards and photos!

The free ecard site offers Free Printable Cards and Free Birthday ECards. Instead of using printable cards though - just send me an Ecard or photo card that I can archive in my hard drive instead of archiving it in a box for numerous years. Hard drives are much less bulky, easier to move, quick to search, and handy to organize!

This year, send me an e-card. Save the money from the paper card and the stamp and treat yourself to a latte. You deserve it. :)

I am participating in “Jump Start Your Blog Contest” sponsored by got-free-ecards and momdot.

The Triumphant Child Book Review and Giveaway

Recently, I was sent a copy of the book The Triumphant Child to review. The book focuses on advice for raising two, three, and four year olds.

I found the book to be an easy and quick read with lots of useful information that was easy to understand and locate within the book. In the front of the book there are lists of age appropriate activities, books, and expectations for each year that the book discusses. The rest of the book is more general advice with great tips for weaning from the bottle and paci, preparing a toddler for a move or a new sibling (both interesting topics for me right now), and overall discipline advice.

I am giving away one copy of The Triumphant Child to a lucky reader. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me why you'd like to win this book!

Tucks

I know, I know. Two "medical" reviews in one day! :) This one may be TMI for you... if so, just click away. :)

Mom Central recently sent me an email regarding Tucks products that I would like to share with you.

"Carrying a baby proves one of the most amazing feats a woman's body can perform, but seeing your body beautifully transformed sometimes comes with rather unpleasant side
effects. It's nothing you'd ever want to talk about but, let's face it, hemorrhoids can become a nightmare for women during pregnancy – and beyond. Many of us have had to deal with the uncomfortable symptoms they bring – pain, burning, itching – fortunately, hemorrhoids aren't serious but you'll most likely need to treat them.
I find it much easier to research treatments for a sensitive subject like this before you walk into a crowded store – filled, of course, with your teenage babysitter, your husband's office manager, and the guy down the street – and are faced with having to make a decision at the shelf.

For Moms who experience hemorrhoids, Tucks brand medicated products provide an effective and soothing relief. Tucks Hemorrhoidal Ointment, Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Ointment and Medicated Pads can help with the discomfort, burning, itching and other side effects that hemorrhoids bring with them. Tucks also has a line of Take Alongs, medicated towelettes that give you a convenient way to treat hemorrhoid symptoms on the go. I know the best place to get help is from other moms who are willing to share all that they know."

First, I have to say that I'm one of the lucky ones. I don't actually have hemorrhoids. Yet. We'll see if I survive this pregnancy without them... But I do love Tucks medicated pads. I was given these in the hospital after I had an episiotomy with Bo and they were lifesavers (just as a sidenote -- Bo was nearly 9 lbs!). I have a very high pain tolerance but these were great for the episoitomy pain and I feel like they helped with healing as well. I went through a TON of these during those first few weeks after Bo was born.

This is my public service announcement for the day -- you don't actually have to have hemorrhoids to use Tucks. They are great after child birth. And it's quite amusing to send your husband and in-laws out to buy more of them shortly after you've given birth. ;)

UTI Awareness - Cystex Giveaway

While I am not a frequent sufferer of urinary tract infections (UTI) I do know how uncomfortable and painful they can be. For me, there is nothing worse than having to go the bathroom more than I already do. I'm what many would call a "frequent urinator." Sounds kinda like a terminator... ;)

The videos are full of information to help you understand what causes UTI's and how to prevent them.

Cystex has generously agreed to giveaway one full size box of their product (Cystex Urinary Pain Relief Tablets) to several lucky readers. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post!

Star Kids Snack & Play Travel Tray Review and Giveaway!

Bo was recently sent a Star Kids Snack & Play Travel Tray to review. He loved it! But I think Mommy loved it more!

One of Bo's favorite games to play in the car is to throw whatever toy he is playing with or book he is reading. He then whines until Mommy picks it up and gives it back to him. He can become quite testy in the car -- especially since we frequently make trips to visit the grandparents that are nearly 5 hours. It's a long time in the car for a little guy who just wants to run around and play.

The Star Kids Snack & Play Travel Tray has a little ledge all the way around it that makes it perfect for holding his toys (especially his favorite -- CARS!) and keeps them contained. That isn't to say he didn't still play a lot of "fetch" with Mommy on our last road trip, but the "fetch" was significantly reduced.

Bo also enjoyed eating his snack off of his tray -- mmm... Goldfish! I think it will be a great asset in the car when he is just a little bit older and wants to color or draw while sitting in his carseat. The only thing I would recommend is to have a placemat on hand to put on top of the soft fabric of this tray for eating. That would make it absolutely perfect!

Star Kids has generously agreed to giveaway one Star Kids Snack & Play Travel Tray to a lucky reader. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me about the little one you hope will love this tray!

Create Your Own "Sweethearts" Saying!

You may remember, that my husband and I were married on Valentine's Day. It isn't because either of us is a hopeless romantic (we're not!), but it did make for a beautiful day. It's strange to think that we will soon be moving just minutes away from our "destination" wedding location (Starved Rock State Park).

One fun aspect of having a Valentine's Day wedding is all of the fun candy that is associated with V-day. We gave Valentine's and chocolates as our favors and there were plenty of Sweethearts with fun sayings on the tables for our guests to enjoy.

Sweethearts recently sent me some yummy Sweethearts treats with the hope that I would encourage you, my readers, to submit your own sweet sayings as they will be choosing 80 new expressions for the 2010 Valentine's Day Sweethearts.

Just visit http://mysweethearts.com/ to submit the saying you'd love to see imprinted on the candies this year!

Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser Review and Giveaway

I recently received a sample of Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser. I agreed to try this product because both Bo and I have extremely dry skin. When I was nine, after years of scratching and developing crazy rashes, I was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis. This is a skin condition that never truly goes away. I have to be very careful regarding what type of soap I use and I have to use lotion after every shower, bath, or swim. I've also used prescription medication for this condition as well.

At this point, I would say that Bo has inherited my skin. On Thursday evening, he had a fever so we put him in a cool bath to try to make him feel better. Once he was out of the tub he was quite fussy so I decided to skip the lotion. Big mistake, as my little guy ended up with the same bumpy rash that I encounter when I miss a lotion dose. Lotion is not optional.

Albolene, besides being a great facial cleanser, can also be used as a treatment for eczema or other dry skin conditions and was recently approved to help treat eczema in children. Just apply the cream without rinsing to the area to help moisturize the skin. I used a little on Bo's chest on Friday and Saturday with amazing results.

I've struggled my whole life to find products that work well and that provide the moisture my skin needs and Albolene is definitely an amazing product. If you have dry skin and need a good makeup remover, facial cleanser, or eczema treatment, you don't need to look any further.

Albolene has graciously provided two samples of their moisturizing cleanser for me to giveaway. To enter, simply leave a comment on this post. You can also - subscribe to this blog/subscribe to my main blog/follow me on twitter/tweet about this giveaway/grab my button/email your friends/blog about this giveaway for additional entries.
